Leslie Sklair is emeritus professor of sociology at LSE; Associate Fellow of the Institute for the Study of the Americas at the University of London; and President of the Global Studies Association (UK). He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Southern California, New York University, The New School in New York, University of Sydney, Hong Kong University and, currently, Strathclyde University in Scotland and has lectured on globalization all over the world. Editions of his Globalization: Capitalism and its Alternatives (2002) have been translated into Japanese, Portuguese, Persian, Spanish and Korean with an Arabic edition forthcoming. His study of the Fortune Global 500, The Transnational Capitalist Class, was published in 2001 (Chinese edition 2002). Papers from his current research project, “Iconic architecture and capitalist globalization”, have been published in International Journal of Urban and Regional Research (2005) and CITY (2006). He has written on globalization and capitalism for several major social science encyclopaedias and is on the Editorial Boards of Review of International Political Economy, Global Networks and Social Forces.
